Biography

Lihui Hu, Ph.D., M.S., is a senior software engineer in the Informatics Core of NCATS’ Division of Preclinical Innovation. She works on the Global Substance Registration System (GSRS). The GSRS is a collaboration between NCATS and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Hu is the team lead on NCATS’ side of the project and supports the back end of software development.

Before joining NCATS, Hu worked on the Value Set Authority Center (VSAC) project at the National Library of Medicine. The VSAC is a repository and authoring tool for public value sets created by external programs.

Hu earned her doctorate and master’s degree in computer science from Michigan Technological University. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Tongji University in Shanghai, China.

Professional Interests

Hu is interested in back-end software development that uses the Spring Framework, which connects databases, to implement business logic, and Elasticsearch to save and search data. Hu also is interested in using computer and information science techniques to store, process and present chemical data.
