Biography

Erin Davis is a supervisory section chief in the Grants Management Branch (GMB), Grants Section B, within NCATS’ Division of Extramural Activities, where she manages a team of six grants management specialists, serves as a member of the GMB Management and Leadership Teams, manages team workloads and assigns projects, issues NCATS grant awards, and supports her team in their professional growth and development. She also serves as the GMB lead on the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program Quality Assurance/Quality Control working group and as the NCATS liaison to the NIH SBIR/STTR [Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer] Vision Committee.

Prior to joining NCATS in 2019, Davis spent five years at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), where she started her NIH career as a program analyst in the Blood Division before transitioning to grants management. While serving as a grants management specialist at NHLBI, Davis managed the Institute’s AIDS portfolio and served as the Scientific Review Branch liaison in transitioning the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study and the Women’s Interagency HIV Study Combined Cohort Study from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to NHLBI.

Before starting her NIH career, Davis worked as a program manager at the Henry Jackson Foundation, where she managed a complex portfolio of international and domestic programs and supervised employees at five locations across the United States.

Davis started her career in medical research administration while an active-duty Army officer. In her last duty station, she served for three years as the chief of logistics at the U.S. Army Medical Component — Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Science in Bangkok, Thailand.

Professional Interests

Davis has a strong interest in contributing to the advancement of medical research and feels a deep connection to the overall NIH mission through her work in grants management. She works hard to ensure that her team knows the importance of their role in the advancement of public health, and she enjoys working with such a motivated and talented group.
