Biography
Nikolaus (Niko) G. Anderson, M.S., is a front-end developer in the Informatics Core of NCATS’ Division of Preclinical Innovation. He leads the front-end development for the Global Substance Registration System (GSRS) and its updated user interface (UI). He works closely with the back-end developers and testing teams to ensure that the Angular UI for GSRS v3.0 onward is updated with new features and solutions. He also helps publish the GSRS public data set from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Anderson provides support to collaborators to modify the GSRS UI and manage the migration path for adding these changes into the core GSRS.
Before joining NCATS, Anderson worked for the University of Maryland’s Norton Brown Herbarium and plant ecology lab. There, he focused on full-stack web development, plant taxonomy and quantitative vegetation analysis. He also has worked on various plant taxonomical and ecological websites and databases.
Anderson received his Bachelor of Science in biology and plant science from the University of Maryland, College Park. He currently is pursuing a Master of Science in bioinformatics.
Professional Interests
Anderson is interested in front-end web development, advances and libraries in the informatics field. He is also intrigued by how the field intersects with the sciences and data visualization. He enjoys working on plant taxonomy, ecology and scientific applications.
